Rangeela, who claims that he had been trying to file his nomination papers since May 10, also alleged that he was not allowed to enter the Varanasi district magistrate's office on Tuesday, the day when Prime Minister Narendra Modi filed his nomination papers.

I feel pity for our PM. It was a real surprise to me that he could be afraid of someone like Shyam Rangeela. So much conspiracy to disqualify a comedian, can you believe it? It is actually a shame for democracy.

I am amazed to see the kind of comments coming. There was absolutely no chance of Rangeela getting even a 1% vote. But then why this purposeful rejection? Why people are afraid of people like Rangeela? We have seen similar scenes in Sural also. In Indore, the Congress candidate was forced to withdraw the nomination. In Varanasi, the DM and EC seem over-enthusiastic to express their solidarity with Modi Ji. However, I am not sure whether they acted on their own or instructed. Anything is possible. I understand that people will say that there were irregularities in his nomination paper. But people remember how the returning officer of the Chandigarh Mayoral election also found irregularities in the AAP vote.
