Let me talk about something called Lithotripsy. Shock Wave Lithotripsy (SWL) is the most common treatment for kidney stones. Lithotripsy treats kidney stones by sending focused ultrasonic energy or shock waves directly to the stone. The location of the stone is confirmed with fluoroscopy (a type of X-ray “movie”) or ultrasound (high-frequency sound waves). The shock waves break a large stone into smaller pieces so that they can pass through the urinary system. What is shock wave lithotripsy?

In Lithotripsy shock waves from outside the body are directed targeting the kidney stone making it break into fragments. The stones are broken into tiny pieces. The process is also called lt is called ESWL: Extracorporeal Shock Wave Lithotripsy. The term lithotripsy comes from the Greek roots where "Litho" means stone, and "Tripsy" means crushed. Extracorporeal means from outside the body, not invasive, a nonsurgical process. Shock waves are high-pressure waves with hammering effects or impact. However, SWL is best if the stones are smaller than 2 cm in diameter. The treatment might not be effective in the case of very large ones. In such cases, the doctors could go for a second session if large pieces remain.

Now why am I talking about Lithotripsy? Lithotripsy is extensively used in politics. The kidney stones are calculi since they are made of calcium oxalate. Calcium oxalate stones are the most common type of kidney stones. The hard elements in the opposition parties could be referred to as the calculi. They are the nuisance elements for parties like the BJP. Quite often surgical process is not feasible or the High Command of the party does not want to for the surgical process against the opposition parties. So they go for the Lithotripsy. Rather they start with the Lithotripsy process in all cases. In a standard case, about 1-2 thousand shock waves are needed to crush the stones. The complete treatment takes about 45 to 60 minutes.

In politics also like Lithotripsy repeated numbers of shock waves are given forcing the opposition to break. The idea is to break them into smaller pieces - Shiv Sena into two pieces, and NCP into two pieces. Smaller pieces are better manageable to make them pass through the urinary tract. The shock waves are given through ED/IT/CBI. The shock waves may create some pain. So the patient may be given local, regional, or general anesthesia. Here in politics money, facility, and ministerial portfolios play the role of the anesthesia to reduce the pain. Eknath Shinde made CM, Ajit Pawar made DY CM. And if all these attempts fail then there is no option left but to do surgery. And if big stones like Ajit Pawar agree to break at the first few instances of shock wave, they may escape surgery. Otherwise, people like Hemant Soren are taken to the surgery table. Because he didn’t break under repeated shock waves. TMC & JDU all have softened up reasonably. Somebody’s grandfather conferred Bharat Ratna. Most kidney stone problems get solved by Lithotripsy. Very few cases go for surgery.
