I am sorry to say this question hardly makes any sense in any manner if you are looking for an answer that India would be the 3rd largest economy in 2047. Why do I make such a statement? India is already the No-1 biggest economy with the highest unemployment. Unemployment percentage of India is 7.3%, China is 4.9%, Russia is 4.7%, UK & US - 3.6%, Japan - 2.6%, Pakistan - 6.4%, Germany - 3%, South Korea - 2.8%, Singapore - 2.8%. I know some brilliant minds would straightway ask for the source of data. They can refer to the link given in the reference. If we compare the GDP per Capita India’s position has to be seen with a magnifying glass, else you won’t see it easily. As of December figures, there would be at least 15 odd major countries that have a lesser fiscal deficit than India.
India might reach the 3rd spot in terms of GDP size. However, it may not mean anything to the common people. As per the Oxfame report the top 10% richest people occupy 77% of the wealth of the nation. If the current trend of wealth accumulation continues then possibly by 2047, this 10% population will contain 95% of the national wealth and the top 5% of rich people will contain 85% of the national wealth. This means the balance of 90% will suffer from acute poverty.
The 2023 Global Hunger Index gives India a rank of 111 out of 125 countries. This indicates a hunger severity level of 'serious' for the country. This also marks a fall from the previous year's rank of 107 (2022). From 2000 to 2015, India made good strides in the GHI rank while from 2015, India has advanced on the GHI by only 0.5 points. India performed worse than the neighboring countries Pakistan (102nd), Bangladesh (81st), Nepal (69th), and Sri Lanka (60th).
India can not be a developed nation by 2047. Developed or underdeveloped is not measured by the GDP size. It is measured based on per capita income. India ranks 132 out of 191 countries and territories on the 2021/22 Human Development Index, behind Bangladesh and Sri Lanka. Over 70% of India's population cannot afford a healthy diet as of 2020. The situation after Covid further worsened. The government itself claimed to give free ration to 80 crores population. Among all women aged 15-49, the prevalence of anaemia has risen to 57% in 2019-21 (NFHS-5) from 53% in 2015-16 (NFHS-4). According to a WHO report India has only 0.5 hospital beds per 1000 population compared to 4.3 in China, 2.8 in North America, and 4.6 in the European Union.
I can refer to a hundred other statictics which would render these 4th, 5th, 3rd etc number game abosolutely meaningless.
