My boss is asking me to vote for BJP in the upcoming General elections. I clearly told him that I don’t support BJP, but still he tries to convince me daily. Can someone help me how to deal with this?

Is it very essential to antagonize your Boss? There are two choices available to you - shut up your Boss by giving some savage reply or maintain an amicable relationship by acting to be in agreement. There is no point in getting into a disagreement with your Boss. You can always say that you don’t have any interest in politics, however, you would vote for BJP, as you respect and trust the opinion of your Boss. In job life, it's very important to be in the good books of your boss. Rather it is the most important parameter. The best of performance may not help you to get a good appraisal or promotion. Even if he is not in a position to help you in such matters directly, however, he could be an influencer.

Nobody would know whom you have voted for. So vote whomever you want to vote. You don’t have to discuss it in public. I am not a BJP supporter, however, I particularly avoid discussing politics with people who are strong BJP supporters, it's absolutely meaningless unless you want to spoil your relationship by entering into a heated argument. Modi Bhakts are mostly blind, no amount of logic would work with them.

In my view, the most savage reply to Modi a Bhakt would be to cut short any discussion on Modi on some pretext - It could be an urgent call from someone who matters. You can always say that some other day you will definitely discuss the matter in detail. And if at all you discuss, it's better to let your boss be the winner after some initial healthy argument. This will give him double satisfaction - First, you have accepted BJP as the better choice and Secondly, he has been able to defeat you in the debate. Defeating your Boss in an argument is the worst idea. In fact, if required to convince him that you are a genuine admirer of Modi, you can speak a few words of praise for Modi- that he is always meticulously well dressed, he is a very good orator, etc.

Don’t let Modi Ji spoil your service career. Do a little politics with your Boss if required. Honesty is not a good virtue at times. Your Boss doesn’t deserve an honest answer, since he is trying to convince you for something that is beyond his jurisdiction.
