How do you know that there is so much antagonism towards Rahul Gandhi? If I say that there is so much protagonism towards Rahul Gandhi, how would you prove me wrong? Possibly you would say that the proof is that Rahul is not winning elections for Congress. Not winning elections can not be taken as a sign of antagonism. Vajpayee Ji took fifty years of active politics to become PM, were people antagonized with him that he couldn’t become PM? He could manage to win only one full term and lost in 2004, were people antagonized with him? And all this when nobody tried to paint him as a failure or tried to assassinate his character. Vajpayee Ji is still one of the most respected PMs. His defeat doesn’t mean that people were antagonized with him.
Vajpayee Ji had to wait for his turn. Not that people who became PM ahead of him were better than him. All kinds of lackeys became PM ahead of him - V P Singh, Chandrashekar, Deve Gowda. They were all Lifetime politicians. Lifetime politicians like P V N Rao, and Vajpayee Ji could win only one term. Rao & Vajpayee Ji couldn’t convince people to give them a second term. Were people antagonized by them? And who replaced them? They were not replaced by someone great. Rao was replaced by the likes of I K Gujral and Deve Gowda. In 2004, the Nation opted to be ruled by someone new to politics - Sonia Gandhi. And again in 2009, the nation opted to be ruled by Dr. Manmohan Singh despite the presence of a strong leader like Advani Ji. I do not think people hate Advani Ji, at least the Hindus have no reason to dislike him. Just imagine a competent, dedicated, clean, and lifetime politician like Advani Ji couldn’t manage to become PM. I do not remember Congress ever bringing any allegation against him or he has other stain if you leave apart the Babari Masque demolition.
There is absolutely no reason for people to be antagonized by Rahul. He hasn’t done anything yet. He hasn’t taken any official position yet. At his current age, Modi was not even a CM or possibly just became a CM. No great achievement. He does not even hold any official position in Congress. But he is doing everything possible to steer Congress. Success may be evading him. But that can not be any measurement that people are so much antagonized with Rahul.
Rahul is fighting against someone who has been CM+PM for the last 23 years. Definitely, the battle is tough. A politician like Vajpayee had to wait for the death of three-generation Nehru-Gandhi family PMs, though he started his electoral politics in 1957. He was a founder member of Bharatiya Jana Sangh established in1951. But Vajpayee could manage to become only the 10th PM of India. So when people evaluate Rahul or his success the scanner needs to be rightly calibrated.
The narrative of your question seems to be a malafide intention to strengthen a false perception built by the BJP to establish Rahul Gandhi as an incompetent person. Nobody hates Rahul, there is no reason to hate him. Other than the BJP and its Bhakts nobody has any antagonism towards Rahul Gandhi. BJP and its supporters are angry with Rahul because he is the only person who could be a threat to BJP. He is the only leader who stands out and vociferously protests against the Modi government’s misdeeds. BJP and its supporters are angry with Rahul because he can not bought and so long he is there in active politics, Congress can not be destroyed.
And till such time Rahul Gandhi is there BJP’s ambition to establish a single-party rule in India is not possible. Till such time he is there, the people of India have the option for an alternate party to fall back on should they want to discard BJP. Unfortunately for BJP, Rahul is neither leaving politics nor leaving Congress. So it's natural that BJP and its supporters are black & blue with anger for Rahul. Had Rahul been genuinely incompetent BJP and its supporters wouldn’t have been concerned about him.
In my school life from 1st standard to class X, I used to always rank first except for once. I think it was in class VIII, I stood second. Not that the other guy was a better student, but because I was very casual with my studies. Otherwise, I was never concerned about someone beating me. Not that I was extraordinarily brilliant but possibly the overall competition level was not that high in my school. I think if Modi Ji had been so competent, Rahul shouldn’t have been his concern. The fact that he is still worried and needs to attack Rahul speaks of his fear and weakness. And this is despite the BJP being the world's largest and richest political party. This is despite Modi being the incumbent PM for the last ten years and having the entire government apparatus in his hand. Rahul has been defeated by the combined might of PM Modi + BJP (18 crores membership) + RSS + VHP + Bajrang Dal + Godi Media + ED + IT +CBI + Huge Money muscles to buy out MLA, MP, other leaders and support of other parties. And against that Congress bank accounts were frozen, IT department made Congress accounts empty. Congress candidates poached.
