Can a BJP supporter name just three major flawed policies that the current government needs to correct?

How could you expect a BJP supporter to point out any major flaw of BJP? This is impossible. PM Modi or the BJP has never accepted committing any mistake. Modi Ji’s Bhakts believe that he can not make any mistake. They believe that If he has done something then he must be having his reasons for doing so. I believe the current government has the following three major flaws…

  1. Economics
  2. Economics
  3. Political Science

Yes, these are the three major flaws of the Modi government. The Modi government has many flaws if we want to point them out. However many of them stem from the above fundamental flaws. I would have written all three as “Economics” only but political consideration had to be given some space because political consideration to a large extent could be independent of the economic forces. For example, Indira Gandhi had the guts to give a frostbite to American President Nixon despite India not being an economic power. India defeated Pakistan on all fronts despite the presence of the US Navy’s 7th Fleet. 1971 victory over Pakistan possibly was the cleanest victory after WW II without causing any civilian casualties or mass-scale destruction.

Indira Gandhi had her political vision which was to a large extent independent of economics. This is true for most noted world leaders. However, it could be very difficult to differentiate between political and economic vision. For example, Nehru’s vision was composite, all integrated. That’s why I have taken Indira Gandhi’s example where it is comparatively easier to dissect political and economic vision. Nelson Mandela, Mao Zedong, Fidel Castro, and Lee Kuan Yew had their distinct political vision.

Modi government’s economics is as good as Rahul’s political acumen was till two years back. Rahul got his position of command in the party virtue of his birth. And Modi got his command over the finance ministry by virtue of his electoral victory. Just being the scion of a distinguished political lineage doesn’t make you a great politician by default. Similarly just being elected with a majority doesn’t make you an economic or political visionary. Modi’s brilliance is limited to winning elections. Modi’s economic and political failure compelled him to invoke the religion card overwhelmingly. None of the great leaders in modern history had been dependent on the religion card. Otherwise, Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini would have been regarded as a great world leader. However, that is not the case.

Rahul got defector leadership of the party but voters are not supposed to listen to him just because he has taken over the reign of Congress. Plus the Congress leaders always have the option open to join another party. Rahul’s influence and control over the voters are limited till such time he gets soaked in the rich tapestry of Congress as well as national politics. Similarly, Economics is not bound to listen to Modi just because he is the PM of India. Economics forces are large extent independent in the sense they wouldn’t obey the strongest leader on earth. Otherwise, the US wouldn’t have faced economic recessions. Over the last twenty years, the US & UK GDP growth has been around 2% and on quite a few occasions in the negatives as well.

Modi can appoint anybody as the Finance Minister or as the RBI governor or RBI Directors. That is his political power. No government on earth has the power to stop natural calamities - earthquakes, floods, cyclones, tsunamis. They don’t listen to anybody. The economic forces are also capable of creating havoc like hurricanes or avalanches. Only the master surfers can come out unscathed through those massive waves. MMS took out the Indian economy unscathed in the 2008–09 Great World Recession when as many as 462 US banks failed.

I was talking about political science as my 3rd point. Ideally, I would have maintained my 3rd point also as “Economics” However political vision is a very crucial point. The greatest leaders of the world are known for their political vision. The supposedly or BJP-proclaimed so-called strongest PM couldn’t stop the Delhi riot, Manipur riot, and so many other riots. manipur is still burning. He couldn’t stop the stand-off on the Chinese border inclusive of the one on the Bhutan border. he couldn’t stop Uri, Pathankot, and the Pulwama attack. He couldn’t stop the escalation of tension with the neighbors. It's not about power, authority, or money.

The US failed in almost all the wars it fought after WWII to come out clean from any war. It made a shameful exit from Afghanistan. When I say political science, I mean everything internal as well as external. And it includes all political decisions. The Modi government has created more international enemies than India ever had. He had to give access to the EU MPs to visit Kashmir on two occasions. He got Indian democracy downgraded. Suspended a record number of 143 MPs from the parliament. Holding power and long tenure is not necessarily a testimonial of great political vision or great political success.

England dropped ‘selfish’ Geoff Boycott after the opener crawls to an unbeaten 246. Boycott took 555 balls and 573 minutes to get to his highest Test score, which was unacceptable even by the standards of Test cricket. Boycott was dropped despite scoring an unbeaten double-century against India, in Headingley, in 1967

I know people will speak about Indira Gandhi. But it is ridiculous to try to draw any comparison. During Indira Gandhi's regime, possibly almost 90% of nations on earth were either under dictatorship or under martial rule. The emergency was imposed when there was nationwide anarchy and chaos occurred instigated by the opposition parties. Industrial production was practically paralyzed because of strikes and hartals, and communication was snapped by a nationwide railway blockade. She was definitely ill-advised and also possibly she was influenced by what was trending in the neighborhood and across the world. But then she understood her mistake and the emergency was withdrawn. Today the world has changed. You can not seek to justify your action by referring to Indira Gandhi’s action that took place nearly 50 years ago. And if you want to do so then please say to the nation that Indira Gandhi was absolutely right in imposing the emergency. Modi Ji can declare that he is an ardent follower of Indira Gandhi.
