What makes you unique?

Very meaningful question. Most of us mistakes it to be their qualification, degrees, achievements, success, power, position, wealth, experience or lesson of life. But are they the real differentiators ? Lets check.

1. Educational qualification - Many of us would think its our degrees from the finest institutions like IIT, IIM, IIIT, MIT…… the list goes on. But these institutions keep on producing greats year after year, batch after batch, so whats is your distinctive identity ? There are so many top billionaires who are college drop out. Bill Gates dropped out of Harvard two years into his college education. The great Tagore didn’t pursue formal higher education. Not everyone who comes out of Harvard University becomes Mark Elliot Zuckerberg. So it couldn’t your degrees alone what makes you stand apart, it has to be something more.
2. Lineage - Is it lineage ? Not all royal members became Maharana Pratap, Shivaji Maharaj. So what is it that makes them the distinguished one ?
3. Experience - Does experience alone take you to the top ? No, not at all. Now a days in most corporate you will find their CEOs in their thirties. You may have 30 years of experience, but all of them could be obsolete or wrong. Gone are the days when people with highest would normally get the promotion. Though it is still prevalent in government jobs.
4. Success - Does success helps you to stand out ? Oh yes. But what is more important than success is whats make you successful. let me give you an example. Mharana Pratap & Shivaji Maharaj did’t have the largest empire. They were not the richest king, neither had the largest army. So they were not the most successful in standard terms. But we remember them more than others, why ? Because there was something else which is larger than success. We respect TATAs more than the Ambanis, why?
5. Power, Position and Wealth- These keeps on changin. Today you could be rich - tomorrow you could be poor or vice versa. You would remain President of PM forever. 

What makes you unique is your DNA, which make you a distinctive character. Even after other things being same or equal you stand apart. No other individual can be identical as you even your twin brother or sister. It defines your character, your attitude, the way you think, which no one can copy. This explain why no two individuals going to the same school, college , university turns out to be same individual. Why not everyone who goes to Harvard become Mark Zuckerberg even after getting same education, even after taught by the same teacher. Its is your individual character that makes you stand out irrespective of whether your are successful or not. Your deeds, your passion, your compassion, your aggression, your likes, your dislikes, your goodness, your badness differentiate you from others. Your power, position, wealth and knowledge, qualification would not make you great or unique. You become unique by virtue of character and deeds. You could choose to evil or good its your DNA. Your character & deeds can make you immortal either way.
